Neuschwanstein Castle & Austria 2017

Neuschwanstein Castle & AustriaAugust 30, 2017We finally made our way to the Neuschwanstein castle. You know the castle that is considered the icon of all castles of Europe. They say that Walt Disney came here years ago and decided to rebuild a duplicated like it on US soil.  It was built in the 19th -century, it was commissioned by Ludwig II of Bavaria. We took a tour of the castle, buy your tickets in advance or you will be standing in a long line. This place was very crowded with tourists, so be warned. If you want a photo without anyone in the frame, good luck. Also, no photography was allowed in the castle. The tour was typical, nothing extraordinary. It was beautiful but not worth the hustle in my opinion. The Neuschwanstein Castle is located very close to the Austria/Germany border. We actually ended up renting a house apartment in Austria where the family lived downstairs and we rented the upstairs. They provided us with a “city pass” for the local spa and sauna. You have access to the pool for free but pay to use the sauna. Just be warned, the sauna is co-ed and bathing suits are NOT allowed. Just let that sink in for a bit. A little culture shock for us when Ruslan, Vlad, and Nadia decided to check out the “sauna” only to be kicked out for having a swimsuit on. I'm pregnant and obviously not allowed to join them in the sauna so imagine my shock when they came back running out 5 minutes after entering the area.Making our way back to Germany, we stopped randomly in Stuhlinger, where we found a beautiful square and an amazing place to eat. As we where strolling the city, we hear music coming from these two doors, no signs or anything. We walked through it only to find food vendors of all sorts and a live band playing in the middle, a place only locals know about. We had a hard time finding a place to sit but was so fun to hang with the locals. We didn't do much exploring in Germany on this particular trip as we've pretty much traveled the entire country of Germany on previous trips. Maybe I'll get to those posts one day.Oh, my belly kinda popped. Baby Mark is making an appearance. I am 19 weeks now.
