Cinque Terre, Italy 2017

Cinque Terre, ItalyAugust 25-26, 2017Ok before I get into our visit to Cinque Terre, I want to warn you. Do not take your personal vehicle to the coastal towns of what makes up the Cinque Terre. Take a train from Genoa, Italy instead. We thought we can take the “scenic route” but didn’t realize that the road we took was only for locals and a permit required. Also, the winding one-lane road will make you scared for your life and sick to your stomach. (I for sure thought I was going to die and had to come out of the car to just breathe, yes it's THAT bad) Once we finally got to our first destination, Vernazza, we still had to pay for parking, walk a very long distance (vehicles are not allowed into the city) and we still took the train to the neighboring towns. So, simply stated, take the train. Pushing the negative experience of getting there aside, Cinque Terre is incredible with the beautifully colored buildings that line the water. Have your camera ready. The views are gorgeous in each of the five towns. Sailboats and fish boats alike are lined up in the water, making the view exquisite. Stay for sunset and you will not be disappointed.
